Ghostface is a pejorative term used to describe the various masked killers who plague the town of Lakewood in the Scream Roleplay Universe. The name refers to the bone-white, ghostly masks worn by the killers, which are copies of a medical mask worn by Brandon James, the troubled youth who went on a killing spree in 1994, subsequently becoming the subject of local legend.
The mask was first adopted by Piper Shaw, Brandon’s illegitimate daughter who, with her accomplices Kieran Wilcox and Gemma O’Neil, orchestrated a series of murders targeting Piper’s mother, Maggie Duval, and half-sister Emma in October 2015.

Trivia
The term “Ghostface” is a carry-over from the Scream film franchise, whose masked killers are frequently referred to as “Ghostface” in-universe. One of Scream the TV Series‘ many contentious departures from its ostensible source material was distancing its killer’s look from those of the film franchise’s, presumably due to copyright issues with the mask. The Lakewood Slasher is never referred to as Ghostface throughout the series.
Without that legal hurdle (so far?), the SRU uses the “Ghostface” label frequently, usually in prose.
