Mike Vinson is a character in the Scream Roleplay Universe, figuring in the narrative’s backstory.
Mike was a consummate athlete in high school, playing for the Lancer baseball and football teams, and on the wrestling squad. Outwardly a bright and giving personality, he nonetheless suffered from the peculiar tribalism attendant to young men under high pressure to impress each other.
Such pressure contributed to Mike’s bullying of school pariah Brandon James, which resulted in Mike being one of the five people killed during Brandon’s infamous rampage on Halloween 1994.

History
“V” for Victory
Mike was born on January 12, 1978, in west Lakewood. A spirited kid with a go-getter personality and something of a golden retriever attitude, he made friends easily and distinguished himself in sports, playing football and baseball. His childhood best friend was preppy golden boy Brett Keener, and they stuck together into high school, where Mike earned the arguably uninspired nickname “Big V”.
During this time, Brett and Mike became the nucleus of a muscle-heavy, brain-light crew that, along with their teammates Kevin Duval and Trent Price, came to dominate GW High in the early ’90s. During and shortly after their sophomore year, Kevin, Brett, and Trent all got girlfriends, Brett landing class stunner Dara Alden, who proceeded to set Kevin up with her pretty but demure friend Maggie Anderson, while Trent shortly after found himself dating cheer captain Laura Cossey.
Down for the Count
On Halloween night, 1994, Mike was killed by Brandon James, a school pariah who’d been a favorite target of Mike and his friends. Brett and Trent also lost their lives, as did Dara and Laura. Kevin was seriously injured, but ultimately emerged as the sole survivor of the rampage, which became a dark stain on Lakewood’s history.1
Development
Scream the TV Series offers very little about the victims of the 1994 murders that comprise the series’ backstory. Of the five victims, only Dara and Brett were ever shown on screen, in a flashback. Mike, Trent, and Laura remained faceless and obscure. No in-universe information exists for any of these characters, except that they were all involved, to some extent, in tormenting Brandon James.
Mike and his fellow slain classmates were unattested in the SRU until 2025, when they were depicted in Big Trouble in Little Lakewood: 1969, in a vision experienced by Tony Higgs.
Trivia
The victims of the 1994 murders all have faceclaims connected to 1990s horror films. While Mike’s faceclaim, Mario Lopez, is most known for his long-running role on Saved by the Bell, he appeared in a 1997 TV movie adaptation of the Lois Duncan novel Killing Mr. Griffin, and the direct-to-video Fever Lake.
