Miss Holy-Holy

Alice-Marie was born on March 28, 1962, in Lakewood, as plain Alice Tate. The Tates were a family of modest means and still-more modest practices, which is a roundabout way of saying they were Protestants.

Inquisitor

In October 2015, two major tragedies shook Lakewood: one was the Lakewood Slashings, a series of brutal murders, mostly of teenagers, perpetrated by a masked maniac with an unclear agenda. The second was the uploading of a video to YouTube depicting two girls making out.

Fortunately for Alice-Marie, the former ended up being, for the most part, her competition’s problem. She was left to deal with the fallout from the latter. One of the girls in the video, Rachel Murray, was a sophomore at St. Mary’s, the daughter of an alumna. Rachel was already known to be troubled, and had attempted suicide the previous winter.

Her mother, Pamela, was on the warpath over the humiliation and demanded a sit-down meeting with Alice-Marie the very next day. Alice-Marie granted the request and had the Murray family in her office after school that Monday, October 19th. Alice-Marie endures Pamela’s rapid-fire denunciations of the school’s attempts to find and censure the person responsible for the video.

Alice-Marie indicated she believed the person responsible was a student at GW High, and informed Pamela (and her far more placatable husband, Jason) that she’d already contacted her counterpart at the public option, and endeavored that both schools would work together to bring the perpetrators to justice.¹

Appearance

Alice-Marie is an austere middle-aged woman with a severe, if elegant expression. She has blue-gray eyes.

Her light blonde hair is hidden beneath her habit, which she wears universally, in accordance with her order. Her one concession to ornament is a brooch fashioned after a white rose, the symbol of the Sisters of the White flower.²

Personality

Alice-Marie is possessed of a stoic demeanor and carries herself with a steely rigidity.

Trivia

Alice-Marie is one of many SRU characters with a soap opera star as a faceclaim: Stacy Haiduk (The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives). A 2019 Days storyline featured Stacy’s character, Kristen DiMera, becoming a nun though, unfortunately, This Editor had a hard time finding good enough quality stills from the show to use for her icon on this wiki.
