Dwayne Farrison is a character in the Scream Roleplay Universe, appearing in the first volume of The Story so Far.
A well-intentioned young man with a broad smile and a welcoming attitude, Dwayne is the newest and nicest member of Lakewood’s Sheriff’s Department. Unfortunately, the line between “nice” and “naive” is to thin as to be invisible where he’s concerned.
The Lakewood Slashings began during his first month on the job, but Dwayne didn’t let the violence tamp down his spirit, approaching the challenges with good Christian bonhomie.

History
To Protect and Serve (with a Smile)
Dwayne was born on April 4, 1992, in Lakewood. He was the younger of two brothers, and was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness.1 The Farrisons were mainline conservatives and, among other things, were skeptical of vaccines.
Dwayne joined the Lakewood Sheriff’s Department straight out of college, approaching his role as a deputy with cheery aplomb. His good nature would promptly be tested…less so by the spate of murders the press dubbed the Lakewood Slashings, but more by the various local personalities the slashings strew across his path.
On the afternoon of October 19th, 2015, the day after the murders of Stacy Winters and Brock Carmichael, Mayor Quinn Maddox stormed into the sheriff’s station, intending to press Sheriff Hudson for any progress on the case. Quinn didn’t reckon with Dwayne, who was manning the metal detectors and, after hearing him make an unfortunate comment about Downs Syndrome during a phone call with his assistant, initiated an uncomfortable conversation about his Downs-afflicted nephew, protracted by Quinn’s various shiny accessories setting off the metal detector.2

Dwayne is a fresh-faced young man with a bright smile. He’s darkly complected and has warm brown eyes.
Personality
Pleasant and agreeable to a fault, Dwayne is trusting, kind, and eager to please. These qualities, while admirable on paper, make it very easy for him to be taken advantage of, by powers great and small.
Origins and Development
Dwayne was introduced in 2026, for The Story so Far rewrite. He had no precursor in the original iteration of The Story or any other SRU or pre-SRU media. This wiki classes him as an original character but, with a stretch of fancy, he can be interpreted as supplanting the surname-less “Deputy Dwayne”, a minor character who appeared in three episodes of Scream the TV Series‘ second season before being unceremoniously killed off in Episode 8.
Trivia
The syrupy saying Dwayne appends to his Downs Syndrome nephew (“Danny’s Downs, but love is up”) is taken from “Danny’s Downs”, a late career effort by folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary. As Dwayne alludes, the song is indeed about a family who decides not to euthanize their Down Syndrome newborn, after receiving advice from an “old Jamaican Black” cleaning lady who, it seems, becomes a live-in housekeeper for the family as a reward for her saintly intercession.3
