She Had Style, She Had Flair, She Was…

Jackie was born on September 13, 1985, somewhere on Long Island, which is where she spent most of her early life. She worked at a variety of fashion concerns in New York City, usually in an assistant role. At some point in the mid-2000s, she pivoted to politics following an ill-defined crisis of conscience she’s loath to talk about.

Aforesaid crisis precipitated her move to the tiny town of Lakewood, Louisiana, where she signed onto the mayoral campaign of longtime city councilman Quinn Maddox. Jackie couldn’t be said to have a highly evolved notion of politics, but she knew where the money was, a skill which led her to the Maddox campaign and, ultimately, sparked the interest of the man who would be mayor.

Following Quinn’s landslide victory in the 2012 election, he kept Jackie on his staff as his personal assistant. The decision wasn’t much of a winner with the establishment types who’d been churning for him his entire career, but nobody could deny Jackie’s zeal and the energy she’d brought to the campaign.

Not, the gossip went, that Jackie’s energy was Quinn’s favorite of her assets. It was, after all, common knowledge that Quinn’s wife, Monica, had conveniently departed on a health-related “sabbatical” just before Quinn had announced his candidacy. A man does get lonely, and an important man gets lonelier than most.

Following the onset of the Lakewood Slashings in October 2015, Jackie was immediately put to work to help manage what promised to be a monstrous PR crisis for the mayor’s office. It was on her to both schedule and then delay a press conference on the evening of October 19th, the day after the murders of Stacy Winters and Brock Carmichael.¹

Appearance

Jackie is a petite, lightly-completed young woman with auburn hair rich brown eyes. She dresses professionally, but flashily, in sharp, boldly accented tops and flared slacks.

Personality

Jackie is a vivacious go-getter. A fast-talker, she has a disarming personality and will tenaciously pursue her object of the moment. While she prides herself on her professionalism, she has a cutthroat attitude and isn’t above unsheathing her claws if the situation calls for it.

Origins and Development

The first version of Jackie appeared in a single scene midway through Volume II of the original Story so Far, written in summer 2019. In this debut appearance, Jackie was a timid and nearly voiceless character who showed up long enough to be berated by Tina Hudson as she attempted to press Quinn for information.

A more developed Jackie appeared in 2026, in the course of The Story so Far rewrite, this time debuting in Volume I and being given a surname and identifiable traits, including her nasal Long Island accent.
