History

Felicity was born on August 14, 1964, to Holocaust survivor Margot Atwood and her American husband Charles Atwood. She was raised in Lakewood but spent most of her youth traveling as she plied her career as a fashion model, only returning to her hometown in her 30s, when pregnancy derailed her prospects.

Hit and Miss

On the evening of October 18, 2015, Felicity was speeding down Kleinfeld Road when she nearly ran over a mortally wounded Stacy Winters, who was dragging herself across the street in a futile attempt to escape the masked murderer who had just killed her parents and engineered the death trap that took Stacy’s boyfriend Brock’s life.

Felicity was oblivious to this harrowing drama, merely snapping to Stacy to watch where she was going as she zoomed past.1 She had no idea what she was driving past, and later told her daughter she’d assumed Stacy was a squirrel.2

Origins

In the May 2016 Season 2 AU that became the bedrock of The Story so Far Volume II, Bridget occasionally referenced having to see her “mother”. There’s a possibility that this was meant to be foreshadowing her mother was a significant character in the story’s mythology, and her identity may have been key to a reveal that Bridget was at least one of the killers in that forum, likely aided by Terrance Smith.

That being said, the forum went defunct long before any of moderator TheDerpHowlsatMidnight’s plans could be executed. By the time I began developing The Story so Far in 2019, Bridget was already dead, having been killed off in the Prologue of The Final Retreat that spring.

When Bridget’s storyline and character were retroactively fleshed out in Volume II, I introduced her mother, not as a shadowy, mysterious presence but as a grandiose, appearance-obsessed older lady utilized for comic relief. There were various inconsistencies in the text as to whether or not Felicity was married, but Bridget’s father never appeared and by Volume III it was just assumed that Bridget was fatherless.

When The Story so Far Appendix was composed in 2020, Felicity’s birth year was given as 1974, and her maiden name given as Kauffman. These details were quietly retconned (Quietly, since Felicity simply didn’t appear anywhere after Volume II of The Story was completed!) in 2025. Felicity was made 10 years older, her birth year being pushed to 1964, to better line up with existing details about her mother being a Holocaust survivor who fled the Nazis as a young woman. Further, it was decided she had never been married, and Atwood was her father’s surname.
